Privacy
All the data we collect
(brain images, genetic, questionnaires)
will be anonymized (no name associated with it).
Only very few people (the leaders and coordinators of this study) will know what data is associated with which person.
When all this data is shared with other scientists, they will never know who the data belongs to
Why?
This is to ensure your privacy!
We all have a right to this!
Who can participate?
What does participation include?
(1) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
A big magnet (aka MRI) takes pictures of your brain, as you lie in the long tube
You wear a headset with a mirror attached, allowing you to watch a movie
on the screen behind youTough part: It’s loud! (we give you headphones or earplugs to muffle the noise)
Toughest part: Trying to be still! (we hope watching a movie helps!)
Lasts 40-45 minutes (depends how old you are)
(2) Questionnaires
Done before and/or after (even at home!) the brain imaging part
Types of questions?
How well do you sleep? What do you eat? How much screen time do
you do? How do you think? How much exercise do you do?
Why do we ask these questions?
We want to learn how these measures relate to the brain images.
Take between 2-4 hours, across different days and at home
(3) Genetic Information
We collect your saliva (spit in a tube), on your first visit only
We send this to a place to sequence your DNA
We do this so we can learn how DNA measures relate to brain images.
